Save the World is now prepared to announce a small scale and short volunteer placement program in the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal. The volunteer placement program is a development method to sustain quality person power for work in the rurban areas. Save the World is cautious to make this announcement because of the need to maintain the delicate mix of the volunteer, the environment of the area and the community in which the volunteer is expected to work. Save the World is cautious because of the temperament of the volunteer who will have a socioeconomic background and a cross cultural need for adjustment. And also the community in which the volunteer will be placed to work will have its own history, its own culture as well as it's own heritage. Likewise, the institution within which the volunteer will be working will have its own objectives, its own methods as well as its own experience. Save the World is therefore aware of the need to be very selective of the volunteer, of the community and the institution. The volunteer placement program is therefore a very delicate adjustment of the volunteer, the institution and the community.

Save the World offers ten placements during the year 2000 AD and after. These placements are for a maximum period of 4 months to a minimum placement period of three months. a) School Teachers :
At the moment Save the World has requests for primary school as well as secondary level teachers. These teachers are expected to teach good English, Arithmetic and Science. At the primary level students will be aged 6-12 years. They attend class with about another 25 students. These children are well behaved and have the required aptitude for learning.

In the secondary level students will be between the ages of 12-16 years and preparing for the final school examinations. The class size will be from 15-20 students of both sexes. The classrooms are usually dark, with poor furnishing and without any teachings aids.

Both the primary and secondary level schools are privately owned where students have to pay tuition fees and classes are held from Sunday to Friday between 10.00 am. to 4.00 p.m. Fellow teachers are locals with adequate educational background, they are friendly colleagues most of whom would be males.

The teachers who will be selected will probably have to take at least three classes of 45 minutes duration to a class size of about 25 students everyday. Save the World is looking for persons with necessary skills and training in English, arithmetic and science.

b) Health Workers :
In Nepal health is in a precarious situation where children suffer from poor health because of ignorance. Disease is treated as punishment rather than as a precaution. The treatment of disease in Nepal is not healthy. Save the World requires Volunteers to impart the knowledge of disease as the condition of ignorance. Many villages in Nepal require public hygiene and health awareness. People live in proximity with animals where there are no drains or sewerage system. Save the World wants to improve a healthy living conditions to every family in the community by raising health awareness. This is possible with health education, domestic treatment and neighborhood consultation. Save the World is looking for Health Volunteers who are willing to adjust to mounting knowledge and who are dedicated to achieve health targets defined by the community.
